February writing contest
Showcase your talent! Our annual February Writing Contest runs from 2/1/26 to 2/28/26. Unleash your creative genius and participate for a chance to win and gain recognition within the writing community. Check out Johnny Lawless' newsletter for more contest details!
Writing workshops
Elevate your craft with our specialized workshops starting in March. Learn essential skills in character creation, world building, plotting, and many other writing techniques from experienced mentors.
We will invite authors of all types to share their stories with you and their skill building tips.
Community & book clubs
Connect with fellow writers and readers! Join our monthly online Book Club meetings for engaging discussions on the second Tuesday of every month, starting March 12, 2026. Perhaps you would also like to take part in our dedicated Mystery, Fantasy, and Romance writer groups.
Please email Johnny at services@joneslawlesshouseofbooks.com and let us know which clubs interest you the most, and tell us about yourself. We invite you all to apply for hosting meetings or sharing skills. The first meeting for cozy mystery writers will feature a nurse with tons of experience who wants to answer your medical questions for your writing research needs. That meeting is planned for Thursday, March 26, 2026, and may be hosted by Johnny! We will be sending invites via facebook so send an email to Johnny if you want to sign up.
The first book club meeting is set for the second Tuesday in March. That is March 12, 2026, from 7 pm EST to 8 pm EST and will be hosted by Johnny and Loralie. We are planning to have a guest editor at this meeting who enjoys romances with some fantasy thrown in! She is checking availability. This meeting is a meet and greet and will be on Zoom.
Please send an email to: services@joneslawlesshouseofbooks.com and let Johnny and Loralie know you plan to attend. We will send out the link the week before and a reminder the day of the event. We are happy to hear recommendations of your favorite books to read and invite avid book lovers to share hosting dates for the clubs if interested.
Nurture your creative spirit
Participating in our contests and events isn't just about winning or learning; it's about connecting with a community that understands and shares your passion. Contests provide an outlet for that creative genius inside all of us and helps to loosen us up for the big personal projects we have going on in our heads. Making friends with other writers and avid readers is tons of fun, and we will have some interesting and fun get-togethers, coffee breaks, and cocktail parties. Loralie is planning to blog a bit and host a podcast coming soon. Johnny will drop in to set the sparks flying. Loralie announced today that she is on the lookout for skilled new friends or interns who want to reach out to the readers of the world and help create a fun community.
